What is Cupping?
Cupping is a standardised method of tasting coffee which is practised around the world. Despite the setting, be it at a coffee farm in Guatemala or a boutique roasting house in Paris, everyone uses this same procedure which borders on ritual. 5oz of water at 93 degrees is added to 10g of coffee coarsely ground. The coffee then steeps for 5 minutes, then the grinds removed and another five minutes must pass before the coffee is ready to be analyzed.
